Some Recording Ideas

Since I got started with this hobby (back in early December) I’ve had the opportunity to spend some time toying with that Tascam Model 16 mixer. I feel like it took me longer than I think it should have for me to figure how to get it to send sound to and from my DAW applications, but now it’s helping me have some real fun. A few months ago I started recording music for some friends — most notably two different but equally excellent guitarists — and I believe I’m starting to get the hang of this.

Now that I have the basics down, I want to try recording and producing a couple of personal projects. One would feature local artists discussing their songs and experiences. Ideally, artists would perform something live or we could try cuing up and playing prerecorded songs. I’m really fascinated how artists conceive of content and their processes translating that concept into a recorded track. Alternately, I’d like to record artists performing their original material on my little corner stage.

My first goodsoundwaves Featured Artist is Alliance, Ohio’s Smokin’ Joe Rodak.

The live program would be a 15 minute to 1 hour set of the artist’s original material. There may be video in addition to audio recordings made at the time of the performance.
